“Echoes of Resilience”: The Second Film in the Series on Rohingya Sisterhood and Community Care
Echoes of Resilience follows five Rohingya women—Yasmin, Nurhayati Ali, Nurhayati Sultan, Noor Azizah, and Hafsar—on advocacy trips to build resilience and connections with members of the Rohingya diaspora. After their first journey to Indonesia—the subject of the Journey of Love film—in Echoes of Resilience, the five women travel to Malaysia where they encounter a crisis fueled by hate speech and police brutality as well as a somber reminder of Rohingya lives lost and victimized by human trafficking.
On August 31, 2024, The Fort hosted a film screening and panel discussion organized by the Rohingya Maìyafuìnor Collaborative Network (RMCN), a Rohingya-led, women-led, and refugee-led organization. Echoes of Resilience is part of a film series produced by the Alternative ASEAN Network for Burma in collaboration with the RMCN. The event also included a panel discussion with one of the film’s producers and two Rohingya women human rights defenders from RMCN.
