“Lose and Hope:” A Film on the Karenni Revolution in Myanmar

“Lose and Hope” is a feature film about the strength and resistance of the Karenni people—an ethnic minority group in eastern Myanmar. Directed by John Meia, an ethnic Karenni, and featuring an all-Karenni cast, the film depicts the reality of life for Karenni resistance fighters and their struggle against the Myanmar military junta. The film also celebrates the rich culture and unity of the Karenni people.

On August 17 and 18, 2024, The Fort hosted a film-screening organized by Karenni's Arts Creation (KAC)–a Karenni-led organization promoting Karenni culture and arts through film. The film is in Burmese language and includes English and Thai language subtitles. Each screening was followed by a Q&A session with members of the film’s production team.
