Independent Museums and Archives: Preserving History as an Effort to End Thailand's Culture of Impunity
On May 17, The Fort hosted the “Independent and Archives Museums” event, featuring a panel and exhibition highlighting the collective memories of Thailand’s key political events, victims of violence in the insurgency-prone Deep South, and Thai LGBTI+ history.
The panel, organized by the Deep South Museum and Archives and the Museum of Popular History, discussed how independent museums can lead to justice and the challenges that they face, ranging from limited budget to the access to and preservation of collected artifacts.
