Press Conference on the Case of Mr. Y Quynh Bdap

A Vietnamese Refugee at Risk of Extradition

On June 11, 2024, Thai immigration arrested Y Quynh Bdap, a Vietnamese refugee and human rights defender who co-founded the human rights organization Montagnards Stand for Justice and advocates for religious and minority rights in Viet Nam. Y Quynh Bdap now faces the possibility of being forcibly returned to Viet Nam, where he fears persecution due to his human rights work. The Bangkok Criminal Court is scheduled to hold hearings on his case on August 1 and 19, 2024.

On July 25, 2024, The Fort hosted an in-person press conference organized by the Peace Rights Foundation, the Cross-Cultural Foundation and People Serving People Foundation to discuss the case of Y Quynh Bdap.

This event is open to the public and free of charge. It was held in Thai language with English interpretation available. The event was also live-streamed on The Fort's Facebook PagePeace Rights Foundation's Facebook Page, and Cross Cultural Foundation's Facebook page with English interpretation.
